The game has been been ticked into the box of being a prototype and is good enough for the final presentation. After weeks of fixing a lot of things mainly by our programmer it was good news to finally hear it was a complete prototype. Now we have to finish up on the presentation layout with our power point, documentation, trailer video and speech.

Just finished watching Juice it or lose it.
Juice it explores the little aesthetics and visuals of games and how they can be so much better with the smallest changes. Once they start to build up they can make a game look a lot more appealing. This also brings up something interesting that the core gameplay for a game does not necessarily mean
it will be successful. All areas of what make a game a game must be layed out and brainstormed thoroughly. A game is made up of all the elements, visuals and aesthetics, sound, gameplay, story (if applicable). But the main point of Juice it or lose it or what they were trying to share was that once you have your core gameplay
down work on refining the aesthetics of the game and how it can be more visually interesting.

The group has finally warmed up to the alien idea which hopefully will drive the game in a better direction. The core gameplay for an actual game is still missing but is getting there. Concepts for characters and mobs still haven't been finalised which is making it hard for the modellers to get something down to replace the placeholders right now. Our group communication has been pretty terrible lately as well. Half the group would be updated on one thing while the other half would be updated on other things without knowning. We started up on social networks and messenger programs to help with the communication problems more. We also started documenting with task sheets for things to be done for the week and what each member has done so far. We came up with our first alien concept:

When we presented our game the teachers brought up a couple of interesting ideas with our game so far. Firstly our main character placeholder was a small character with a big head which looked like a "cute alien" and was suggested that our game be about an alien character rather than a bland generic human. Though the group does not agree with this idea, I think the alien idea could work well with the game.
The game also for many has only had mechanics and does not have core gameplay of what makes a game. We have been receiving complaints that our game has enough mechanics but has no game.
I have started animated the alien placeholder in our game. But our main focus is to get a solid game down that people can actually play for the prototype.
